question does any1 know how to set up a proxy server or know of any links to help me set it up? plus would it be possible to block all internet connections from the pc even if they log on as local and if they want to surf the net they have to use the proxy server 1st.

Take a look at these for more info:

For your second question regarding local use, it depends on the hardware you use.

In my case, we have a machine that requires user authentication and is the ONLY way on to the internet from within the company, so wether logged on locally or on the domain, if they arnt authenticated and logged in, they can't surf and get an access denied screen, simple as that.

So in summary, the answer is yes :)
