Hi,
Does anyone know how proxy auto detection works?
Picture the scenario. I have an NT4 box running IIS4/Proxy2
I set my web browser to auto detect proxy settings.
I open up my browser and it finds the proxy no problem.
OK, how does this mechanism work? I can see it must be a broadcast but can't find any further information on how this feature actually works.
A whitepaper on this subject would be marvellous.
My target is to have proxy auto detection work over a WAN link (which broadcasts are NOT forwarded through). I want to set my Cisco boxes to forward broadcast traffic for proxy detection ONLY and nothing else...
