We are a school and use Netsweeper for web filtering. We have proxy bypass sites blocked as a category and actively block other proxys. This however does not stop students from finding sites that keep popping up as proxy bypass sites.

We have a AUP that is enforced when they are caught, but I would welcome any advice from the forum as to what else we could do to proactively prevent these proxys being used. Do others have the same issues?

Thanks in advance

As a backup, open an account with OpenDNS.com
Very easy, you supply them your public network, and you can use them for their DNS (you point your DNS forwarder to them and they are very fast) and filtering for 54 categories.

I don't know how good a product Netsweeper is, but this might close that open gap for you, also act as a failover and best of all... IT'S FREE!!!!

Hope I could help.

Sorry, that sounds funny "you supply them your public network"... what I forgot to type was, you supply them your public network address (the static subnet or IP you got from your ISP) so they can verify that it's legit.

Thanks I will give it a go and report back.
