Proxy Auto Config Script

Does anyone know if this kind of script runs the same as a javascript. What I mean is I have been doing some research on this and it seems to require the host have the java engine to run. I have found several predefined functions, but I am not sure if all javascript functions will work in it. I would assume so but I have not found any info on it stating so. I was wanting to do a little more complex configurations than the examples that I have found.

Really what I was wanting to do was list out urls that need to bypass the proxy in an xml instead of listing them all out in the PAC file.
