For some reason my University has a browser sniffer in place that prevents me from using Opera 8 to log on to my course sites.

Long story short, I obtained Proxomitron and was able to fake the browser id so the University web site sees Opera as IE. Now I can log on to my account and pull up a course site. However, every course site consists of a top frame and the body frame. The top frame holds the javascript driven drop-down menu. This menu only seems to work on the homepage of the course site because as soon as I go inside by one page the menu stops working. The menu is there, however, the javascript does not work (the sub-menus no longer drop down). At any rate, I have tried manually refreshing the top frame, but it does nothing. Hitting F5 only refreshed the body frame.

It seems to me that the top frame is not reloading from page to page as it should and does in other browsers. Is there any way that I can force it to, using Proxomitron or otherwise?

Thank You

is your browser cache set to update automatically? perhaps you could right-click in the frame and choose to refresh that frame? i don't know if opera has that feature like firefox does. why do you want to use opera?

i like your sleeves...they're real big

Yes, the browser cache is set to update automatically. Also, I can right-click in the top frame and choose refresh, but it does not do anything. Seeing how it works in other browsers both frames are supposed to reload every time I go from page to page, yet in Opera it only reload the lower frame for some reason.

I would simply like to use Opera just to support it because it is a very standards compliant browser. After running into several web development problems of my own lately I have determined that the best thing to do is to get as many people, including myself, to migrate to standards compliant web browsers. It is the only way, in my opinion, that the Internet experience will evolve.

At any rate, it is no big loss. I still have Firefox installed so I can use it if necessary to continue accessing the University course sites.

Thanks for the reply though.
