Greetings everyone!

We recently purchased 64 IP handsets for our Police Department. Most are 1220s. The PD is NOT allowed to have DHCP, which means our normal provisioning (over DHCP) is not valid in this case.

Does anyone know of a way to simplify/automate the process where the handset has to have a static IP? Or am I just going to have to bite-the-bullet on this one and manually setup every phone?

Thanks.

I believe you can use system provisioning files. I have not used them so someone with more experience should be able to assist you in better capacity. We use DHCP where I work. For 64 of them it might be easier to set them up manually versus attempting the file provisioning process but not sure. I think it can be a bit of a pain to get working. Without DHCP you might have to put the provisiong TFTP on each phone ... not really sure. Phones are pretty dumb and you kind of have to provide at least some info so the phone knows where to go :) I don't think it can get there via VLAN info.
