Hello everyone

I'm currently just upgraded my BCM 50 to 6.0 and have 2 IP sets and 8 licenses with only two registered and none off line. I've found a reference to a thread where the same problem was solved that I currently have in that I'm trying to get one phone working across the internet. I also have the ACTIVE NAT Traversal / Remote Working code enabled.

The solution by Toncat8118 was "Solved by setting the provisioned IP."

I've tried using my ISP assigned IP address and it didn't connect.
However I now figured out that I have to wait a while while it looks for the BCM 50 over the net. I now have it working, but still the problem with no speech!.

TERM.(0003, :0002): No public media address available for IP set at 86.130.12.11:51006

I've made sure that port 51006 is allowed on the router connected to my BCM 50 as both UDP and TCP.

I was hoping that my upgrade to 6.0 with NAT Traversal added in would have sorted the speech problem out.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

I have some bits and pieces I put together and hope some gurus here can verify or add to it....

For NAT traversal (Remote Worker) :

-Install a key code for each device/worker

-On BCM enable Remote Worker under Resouces/Telephony/IP sets/GlobalSettings

-On BCM set up the Provisioned Public Address to match your Routers public address, leave the Discovery Flag unchecked?

-On IP set, set the S1 address to that of the Public IP of your BCM Networks Router and set the port to 7000, set the Gateway to the IP Sets Network Router internal IP

-Forward ports on the router
70000 for registration
28000-28249 for RTP over UDP
30000-30099 for RTP over UDP
60000-60240 for RTP over UDP
17018-17019 for signalling
2216-2217 for signalling
20000-20249 for UDP

And what ever ports mentioned under Resources/Port Ranges

I did read in a post I recall where they said that one way speech is probably a network issue.

However aside from opening/forwarding ports listed what else is there to do I wonder.

Hello folks

I kind of got it fixed with getting an IP phone to work across the internet from a BCM 50 at release 6.0. It was quite by chance as I decided to start from scratch by referring to the Avaya ITEL training guide for IP telephony.

It mentioned that under
Configuration,IP Subsystem,General settings, that you had a section called "Public Network". I needed to click on Modify and tick the "Address Discovery Flag" check box and also add in if required "stun.ekiga.net" in the "Stun Address Server" line and also if port 3478 is present in two positions.

In Configuration, Resources, Port Ranges, I needed to add in

RTP over UDP = 28000 to 28249
RTP over UDP = 30000 to 30099 (to 30999 for a BCM 450!)
UDP = 20000 to 20249

In Configuration, Resources, Telephony Resources, IP Sets
Finally, make sure that the Support Remote Worker check box is ticked.

I now had dial tone and could use the phone as if it was on my own network.
I still don't know why a stun server needs to be used?.
