Provide a search window,to retreive corresponding info

Hi all,

What I want to be able to do is provide a facility in my database which will allow the user to search for a paricular product by its serial no. eg. G34Y 54/67. When the user enters in this serial no., I would like to be able display all the corresponding info on that product in a form.How would I go about doing this. Where on the database would it be best to do it ,in a form, on a switchboard option?
