I am getting entries in the firewall log of a Linksys RV082 several times a minute that are labeled PROTO 89 on ixp1. I assume that the "ixp1" is the interface, but I am not 100% sure what the "PROTO 89" is. I believe it has something to do with OSPF for routing, but why the heck is it showing up so frequently on a subnet of a local DSL provider?

This has something to do with multicast addresses. I saw something about this dealing with OSPF on routers. Like one router was sending OSPF 'hello' packets to another router that had no idea what to do with them. I would start with the ISP to see if they have a rogue router sending out multicast traffic. I have also heard references of this log entry when someone is being used as a relay for spam.
