I posted this in the Microsoft Office forum, but I thought I would give a try here also:
In Excel XP you can protect a sheet, but allow certain ranges to be edited. Excel 2000 has protection, but does not seem to have this "allow users to edit ranges..." feature. Is there a work around? I'm sending out a survey to a bunch of people. The returned files will be processed by a macro and I'm trying to ensure tha people don't type in areas they are not supposed to. Unfortunately, I just found out that not everyone in the company is using Excel XP (although I am).
I was thinking I could write a macro which accomplishes this by using the built-in event system... but I think this would take me a while and I'm looking for an easier solution.
