Protecting Named fields on unprotected wksheets

Good morning, Tek-Tippers! Hope you can help me out here.

I've got proprietary EXCEL / VBA apps that run in Office 2K & XP. After avoiding named fields (for the reason I'm posting here) for a long time, the VBA maintenance headaches became too much, so I gave in. While my development life is MUCH easier, I've got a security / integrity problem. One some applications, I have unprotected sheets which are in the users' control. (It's needed.)

Problem is, on those sheets, the user can get to - and corrupt my named fields. Is there a way keep them safe??
