Using windows 98/2000/NT etc

I want to lock my system such that no device attached to serial/parallel/ucb ports can be installed or used. Intruder should simply not be able to operate the device while I go away.

I have had to re-format my drives at least two times from such intrusion.

Anyway around this with no side effects

Perhaps disabling those devices in the bios and password protecting the bios?
