Protecting Mail merge fileds

Hello, I have a word document merged with a access database and i want to protect the merged fields in word to prevent deleting, editing or changing.

I already used the protect document from the tools menu, but it only proct the all document or parts, and I need to protect only the fields.

Gee. Did I see this before?

Save your doc as a template. To use it, hit File-New, double-click the template. It creates a new document1 (or 2 or 3) that is a COPY of the template, and not the original.

Or create a macro that auto-merges when they open the file.
