Okay, looks like we are getting some different options for protecting our GroupWise systems from viruses. I was just given this a few weeks ago but until now I was too busy to check it out.

I've looked at the web site, documentation and the forum and have to say that if it does everything they say it does it would be a wise investment. They claim their scanner scans at the MTA level, which would be good for internal protection. It also offers some spam filtering ability to keep unsolicited e-mails out of your users inbox.

I am still looking at the product but up to this point it has peaked my interest. I've asked some questions about their product and now waiting for their answers. For those of you that use Guinevere, you will be surprised to know that Michael Bell contributed to this product. For those of you that don't know Michael, he is a guest SYSOP on the Novell Forums and also the developer of Guinevere.

I currently use Guinevere and can testify how much time and money, not to mention our reputation has been saved because we scan our e-mails. It would be nice to be able to add some functionality to the product and maybe stop some spam here and there. I've been looking at SurfControls e-mail product that does the same as Guinevere, plus has some really good spam blocking abilities, but you also pay the price for it. This product claims to have the ability to block spam for a lot less cost. Even if it's basic blocking, I believe it's worth its cost.

Take a look at the web site and let me know what you think, I would like to get a general feeling of others out there who are running GroupWise...

any way to get a copy to test?

You can actually download it from their site....

The above link should take you to the Download site....

Remember... one difference between this and Guinevere, you need to load the NLM version of your virus scan on your GroupWise server. david e

Okay I take that back. The link I provided above is for the demo. I am still looking into the software. I have a message from them but don't have the time to sit down with a vendor right now. I will mention it would be nice to get a trial version on their site...
