Dell Optiplex GX270 running WinXP Professional SP1

Every time the user logs in to windows a message pops up indicating protected system files have been replaced and insert the Windows XP SP1 disk to repair them. I insert the XP disk and the files are copied over and the system functions without any issues however when the system is rebooted and the user logs back in the same message appears. Do I need to boot to the WinXP CD and perform a repair or is there another way to resolve this issue?

Have you been experimenting with any Slipstreaming programs to merge your Service Pack with a non service pack XP CD?

You could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP (Q315341)

You wont have to worry about updates if you install SP2.

It seems the system may be being told (unintentionally) to disassociate any and all User Profile info upon logoff - clearing cache and/or passwords.
Got TweakUI for XP installed?...
Have you tried logging in as the User and
Start > Run SFC /scannow
does the user have permission?
