I have a prosignia 300 given to me to bring back to life after being retired as a server, totally trashed, has no original disks. I have tried sys erase and then booting from SmartStart 4.20. I get system not spported, error code 10.
It will also not respond to any sys config utility I have tried... it boots up but gets stuck looking for a !CPQ058E.cfg file for the utlity to continue.
This file is not on any of the CPQCFG disks, including SmartStart V4.20.
Can anyone tell me where to find this file (I doubt it is from the 300 series) or how to reset the cmos and to restore factory defaults on the rom.
thanx

You will need to go back a few versions of Smart start for that the chances are with having a server that old that you can bypass old the sys config crap and just install NT server on it. being that old it wont have any Raid capability or hot swapable drives that you need to configure. If the old drive is NTFS and you can't get it to boot why not pull it out check and adjust the SCSI ID if needed, put it in another woking server format it as FAT and copy I386 onto the drive then put back into the old server. Boot with a 98 boot disk and start installing NT server......... Njoy!
