Pros and Cons of using .NET vs ColdFusion

Hi all:

I want to know the pros and cons of using .NET vs Coldfusion and I was wondering if you guys have any ideas as to why one should use .NET instead of Coldfusion. One of the advantages of .NET is OO programming and using base class of libraries across several applications so it will eliminate re-inventing the wheel. Any security feature that .NET has over Coldfusion or any other feature that Coldfursion doesn't have?

Yeah, I have done ColdFusion for the last four years and just started programming in .NET like less than a year ago.

In that case a big part of the decision when starting your new project will be based on your experiences with both of them. Presumably you are fairly competent with .NET now, and you'll have seen a lot of the things it can do. If you are happy with your skills in .NET, and are sure that you have the ability to write a good ASP.NET application, then personally I would choose it over coldfusion.

On the other hand, if you decide that you'll be better off developing in coldfusion (i.e if you think it will be easier for you both in developing and supporting the application) then I don't think it's a bad choice.

Basically, you'll have to weigh up the influencing factors yourself and decide what's best for your situation.
