Proper ways to upgrade a system.

I have two different questions. One, I am upgrading from a single cabinet pro version 2.2 to a two cabinet version 4.0 and I can not remember the recomended upgrade procedures.

I am also upgrading two different pro systems from 1.0 to 2.2. Want to make sure I don't do all the wrong things.

Thanks for any help.
