Hi, everyone...
I was just informed by Veritas that I must upgrade my java to 1.4.X for Patch 3 which someone installed. Can anyone tell me what the proper way to do this is? I downloaded the 1.4.2 j2SE and unpacked it...But I have NO idea where the bin and lib directory is supposed to go?? ANy help would be much appreciated. I'm assuming I just copy the bin directory to /usr/bin...No idea were the lib directory should be though. Many MANY thanks!!

No need to answer this for me, guys. I found out that the J2SE packages are included with the j2sdk and that if I download the j2sdk I can install just the j2re....

Hi!

I'd had to do this on a linux platform (RH8.0), in order to be able to use a french keyboard and to be able to display correctly the java console (via ssh) on another workstation (before, it was very often hanging...).

To upgrade the version of java (i.e. 1.3.0) initially installed with NetBackup:

1- you have to download a relocatable version of jre (I've downloaded the 1.4.1_04 rpm version from the site 2- you have to go in the directory where jre (used by netbackup) is (i.e. /usr/openv/java)
3- you rename the directory jre into jre.orig and extract the binary file (j2re-1_4_1_04-linux-i586.bin) then you rename the directory created j2re-1_4_1_04 into jre

Hope it'll be helpfull.
