I am new at this so I am sorry if my explanation is not great.

I want to prompt a user to select a file. I can do it using an input box and having the user type the path but I would much rather use a GUI method. (Like when you go to File, Open). I am not sure how to do this. Any suggestions?
Also how do I reference this file once its selected, a variable? What datatype?

Thanks!

I bought a book ("Access 97 Developer's Handbook" by Litwin, Getz and Gilbert) that has a whole chapter and a sample database on this. I could send you the MDB, but it is quite in depth without reading the book.

Let me know...

Ever notice that by the time that you realize that you ran a truncate script on the wrong instance, it is too late to stop it?

Terry,

I looked around my office and found a copy of Access 97 Developers Handbook. Unfortunately the CD is missing. Could you point me to the right section of the book?

You can send me the db file if you would like to, since I have the reference.

Thanks

Joe

Chapter 19 talks about common dialog boxes. Keep that book handy, it has been a bible...
