Promise Tech. FastTrak100 TX2 Pro Raid Controller

Anyone ever use the Promise Tech. FastTrak100 TX2 Pro Raid Controller?

I'm thinking about getting it to run RAID1 Mirroring with two 60GB IDE drives.

Any opinions? Any good/bad experiences?

I've had some excellent results with the tx2 and the tx2000 promise raids. Adaptec makes a good one too. Just make sure you have the correct drivers installed... i've gotten 2 bad diskettes with new promise controllers and at times getting the proper drivers from promise calls for an email.

Keep in mind that you should still be doing daily backups if this is a server style box or if your data is important. They are fast and very reliable. The only problems i've had is training people how to hot swap the drives and not crash the system.

The only thing I would say is that if you are looking at hot swap bays, that you make sure of a good backup if you have an existing system and that you back up before you even think of changing the drives... The mirror can be a little confusing at times and swapping the wrong drive can be painful...
