Promise Raid or Intel Raid

I am using Asus motherboad with the Promise Raid software.
I just bought another Asus motherboad P800SE which I found out the Raid is Intel and was wondering if somebody has used both softwares and can advise of performance and reliability

Since the raid is on the motherboard what would you do if one was better than the other? Are both boards still available? Which ones are they? There is more to the decision on which motherboard to buy than the type of raid controller.
