Promise and VIA RAID

Hi All

I'm setting up a Win2K3 server and I'm running into a bit of a problem with my ATA RAID. I'm using the VIA on-board RAID for my Primary boot drive(s) in a RAID 1 config. This works fine but as soon as I add my Promise SX 4000 to the mix (to creat a 3 HDD RAID 5 config for data), Windows stops booting. As soon as the system gets thru the SX4000 BIOS initialization...the screen goes black and the system freezes. I take the card out of the system...boots fine. I think I'm missing something here and perhaps someone has run into this before. Oh..and even if I leave the other 3 HDD's unplugged and then boot with the card in...same problem.

The Mainboard is aa ASUS P4P800.

Have you checked the boot options in your mother boards bios. Purhaps the boot order is not set correctly.

Yes...checked this thru and thru. Tried every trick in the book...to no avail.

I'll keep pluggin away.
