Greetings - I've inherited the last of the IT stuff for a dying company, 6 months prior to close.

Unfortunately, data backups are still critical, and my backup server has a disk that is getting ready to fail - data corruptions, failed writes, etc.

Disk 0 is 18gb, configured as C: and E:
Disk 1 is 36gb, configured as D:

I know the server has the RAID controller stuff in it, and I'd like to put another 18gb disk into the "Disk 2" position and mirror Disk 0 before a complete failure.

Ideally, once that's mirrored onto a good drive, I'd like to remove Disk 0, and put a new disk in there, and have Disk 2 mirror over to the new Disk 0.

Here's the problem - I don't have much of an idea about how to go and do this.

Can anyone provide me with an easy walkthrough to accomplish this?

THANK YOU!

2 ways to do this.

1. Use the array software to mirror the drives (hardware RAID)

2. Use Disk administrator to do this (software RAID)

If you use the array sofwatre once the drive is installed use the array tools.

If you use Disk Admin then control clikc on the new drive and mirror with the current drive

NB the new drive must be equal or larger than the current drive

regrads
