I have a Proliant ML 370 Server with a DLT VS 40/80 Tape drive. The first tape drive died on me, so I had HP Ship a new one. I replaced the tape drive and set the jumpers to the same settings as the old one. Now my server doesn't recognize the tape drive and just shows it as being off line in Backup Exec 9.0. Does anyone have any ideas on what I need to do from here? Should I reinstall Backup Exec? This is urgent. I haven't had a good backup in a while!
Thanks

does insight manager see the drive and report it ok?

it really should just be a case of swapping it - the jumpers would have been at factory default which is probably same as original

Dear Susan,

I worked on Backupexec long back but I think you don't need to Re-Install Backup software but you have to configure it again on BackupExec. There should be some option for Configuring Devies. Try to find out.. is it showing any other device in backupexec..like Let assume Compaq1 or Compaqnew etc. If it is showing any such device then you should try with that device.

Best Regards,
Mukul

I have tried to go into Backup Exec and It says there are no devices to configure

I just looked in device manager at the stand alone drives. It shows the Compaq DLT VS 40/80 twice, but says both are not present. I have double checked the the cables and there is power to the drive, so why is my server not seeing it?????
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!
