Proliant ES1000 setup/OS choice

Hi all, I just got a Proliant ES1000 from a company that was upgrading. I don't care what is on it now - I would like to start clean. They said it has a password but they did not know it. Question one: how can I get past the password? Question 2: how do I clean it up? Question 3: what is the preferred OS for this box; I am comfortable with UNIX/LINUX and windows.
