I have a Proliant 5500 that won't boot.
The office where it was was without AC for a couple of days - they got that fixed then the server only ran for a couple more days
The status light on the power supply indicates amber then 10 green flashes wait 5 seconds then repeats - manual says interlock -

First comment - the manual I downloaded from hp/compaq website says there is suppose to be LEDs on the system board to indicate which component is not locked in - I can't seem to find those leds anywhere

Next comment - I have tried a different power supply - same results - tried the other power bay also, the IMD just says Compaq Firmware 1.9, etc etc - never changes -

Next observation - In the 5 seconds when I am waiting for the cycle of LEDs to repeat back on the power supply there are about 3 different tiny orange LEDs on the CPU board that blink fast, then slower and dimmer, kind of like ringing a bell - at first it is fast and loud then it gets dimmer and slower - then they go out and the LEDs on the power supply start again and the whole cycle repeats -

I have 2 CPUs - tried leaving one out -

In all trials no fans come on, no drive lights light up and the power led above switch does not come on, I have checked whatI think are all connections, and have reseated or checked all that I can find ....

ANY IDEAS?

The leds on my system board are on the opposite corner to the motherboard connector, near the DIL switches. I had the same problem, and it was cured by removing EVERY card, and reseating them - must have been a mis seated card. Could be that your server has been running at a constant temp for 'ever' and the thermal effects of it cooling down have caused an intermittent. As I say I had to remove and replace, not just wiggle the cards to make it work. Best of luck
James
