Proliant 3000

Hi simple question (like me) i just can't remember i have a proliant 3000 with 6 18gb disks 2 are in use the other 4 are not and are not seen in disk admin How do i activate them. Sorry for lowering the standard asking such a stupid question but can't remember.

Firstly, I tell everyone I teach that there is never a stupid question as it is always better to ask than to make catastrophic mistakes without asking.

Back to your question, what operating system are you running and are the disks mirrored or in a standard configuration. When you say Disk Administrator, is that in the operating system or SmartStart? -----------------------------------------------------

The OS is NT the disks are standard configuration
and the Disk admin is in the OS The smart array says that there is no controller installed even though there is and is idendified on boot (smart array 3200)

Go into Smartstart (F10 on bootup when prompted) and go into the Array Configuration Utility. See what the configuration says in there? -----------------------------------------------------

Hi never got back to you it has been one of those days i tried to get into the array config utility on f10 but it kept asking me to insert the disk which i don't have any ideas.

You will need a SmartStart CD - if you don't have one of them you need to get your hands on one as SmartStart is effectively the BIOS of the server. -----------------------------------------------------
