I have a Proliant 3000. The front left board fan began making terrible sounds so I inquired about replacement. In an act to save money I purchased a 3rd party fan that has 3 leads. One for speed sensor which I would assume the compaq has. I am not definate on that. Could not find any information. However upon replacement the machine boots correctly and when the OS (NT Server) comes up it gives and error of an unstable environment and gives me 25 seconds before termination. I have booted with the panel off and watched the fan. It is powered and working correctly. Does anyone have an idea if I can bypass or shut of monitoring of that fan or any other means or info I can use to rectify this issue?

Thank you in advance.

In my experience with 3000's, getting past fan errors were nearly impossible. But really I don't know for sure. I always just replaced the fans with compaq parts.
