Proliant 2500 hangs loading OS

I have an older Proliant 2500 that was working fine until Monday. It goes through POST, then starts loading the OS. It gets about halfway through and quits. All diagnostics report no errors. When I have Netware 5.1 disks in, it loads until it gets to where it loads cpqarray.ham, then it displays information (in green for some reason) about both 333 processors. When I have the Windows 2000 disks in, it goes through the basic boot, then stalls during the splash screen.

Since it crashes with both OSes, I assumed it was not a software problem. I did a memory test and a processor test using the Compaq diagnostics, and all is reported well. The disks work in another 2500, so I assume they're okay. Could this be bad memory somehow, or a bad processor?

Have you upgraded the firmware on both the system itself and on the raid array. Also it could be possible there is an underlying prob with raid array which may not be obvious. Upgrading the firmware may bring the issue to light.

itsp1965,
I found the problem - now just to fix it. It seems that when the OS, whether it's Netware or Windows tries to load the driver for the second processor, it hangs. So, something with the second processor is causing the hang. I'm going to remove the CPU cage and reseat the processors, then see what happens from there.

To answer your question - yes, I have downloaded the firmware and raid array patches - when I did that, it actually told me there was some kind of processor issue, but wasn't specific. So, I'll move forward from here. I think reseating the processors may work, if not, I'll proceed from there. Thanks for your help.
