Another Question

We are using Goldmine ver 5.5 our users are starting to use projects and Opportunities, I cannot see much in the way of security for this section, it seems a users either gets Access or Does not, am I missing something here?

Does this get resolved in a latter version?

Attachements for e-mails are they also open for everyone to read or can they be secured.

Thanks

Technically no, there is no real security applied to this function by GM. But I haven't really tried locking the opmgr.dbf file (where opportunities are stored). I personally wouldn't do it, but if it is really that critical, I'd at least try it on a test system.

They can be secured from all but master users by marking them as private. Also, you can linit access to other's calendar and history items in the user config section and separate it all by individual users and/or groups. Of course, master access trumps all of that. Michael Phipps

Thanks for your response Michael, although I don't think it will solve any of my problems, I think this is due to the way we work, too many different people wanting different security levels (a company problem) the Projects section is more that although there may be 50 projects, different users need to see different projects!!

The attachement problem was more if a user started looking through the mailbox attach directory through windows explorer rather than history tab.

Thanks for your response though.

Chris

In terms of the attachment directory, it may be a bit more work, but you could move that locally to avoid that problem- one would have to save and link the files that they wanted in GM a opposed to letting GM do it automatically if they wanted certain files shared. Michael Phipps
