I am thinking about starting a self study program for Project +. Does anyone have that certificate? Have you found it helpful in the employment world? How long did you study for it?
A+, Net+

I do not have this one but I would like to find the time to do it. I think it's a real asset. It shows you are not just a technician and opens the door for softer skills IT.

I hope to do it but probably not before September.

Dazed and confused

I received my Project+ cert in 2003 and then took the upgrade exam in December 2003.

IMHO: I have found that it says volumes about the fact that you have IT skills, but also business skills that make you more valuable to an organization.

FYI: The newest exam has less IT-specific topics on it and is geared more toward pure PM concepts.

Also, this is a good step to getting the PMP or CAPM certification as there is a lot of similar content. These certs are premium in the PM world.

How many study hours would you say it took you to prepare for the test?

I think the amount of prep time will depend on your PM expertise. I took about 2 weeks off and on of prep.

Also check out Self Test Software's practice test - that will give you something good to go with too.

I checked selftestsofware.com the only test simulation they have is for IT Project+ and not Project+, are these the same.
And what's the deal with pass gurantee with - I mean how can they claim this, do they put in real exam questions in the simulations.

It's the same thing. CompTIA used to call it IT Project+, but when that exam retired, they started calling it simply Project+.

I've used both the Transcender and Self Test products. Neither is the real exam questions for the test, but great prep nonetheless.

So that would mean the latest test they have PK0-002 is Project+ and as per CompTIA own website it's based on June 2003 Objectives. Wow that's a kicker.

Thanks jjonesal

Yep...that's right. You are quite welcome!

Best of luck on your exam!
