My organization has been trying to sync Microsoft Project 2013 with SharePoint (so that our project lives as a Sharepoint List and can be updated by our build team, while automatically syncing updates to Project). As has been established on this and other forums, Project 2013 Professional Edition is needed for this type of integration with SharePoint. Are there any alternative solutions/workarounds that may meet our needs without needing to upgrade to Professional? Are there any third party or alternative software solutions that would accomplish the same integration and syncing that users have with Project Professional and SharePoint?

Thank you for the feedback!

I do not know of any third party products that directly compete with Microsoft on the ability to sync. There are products and companies that work with task management and dashboards in SharePoint.

How about making an on launch macro that will do this? You can record the operation of clicking the Update Project Progress. This may work but I don't know for sure.

The Update Project command does not sync to SharePoint on its own. I don't know if you could create some custom code (Visual Studio would be my guess) - but you have to weigh how much to code a solution that is currently available. Project Pro is required for the sync - but otherwise you can keep using Project Standard. One license of Pro may work.

wlobo,

I had a question about your application. When someone updates the timeline, do they publish it to the server via Project Pro, or are they using the Web App? If they are using Project Pro, why would that not solve your issue? Also, are you linking multiple projects together as a master sub relationship?

If wlobo is using Project Standard, there is no opportunity to publish it to Project Server. y understanding is he/she is using Standard only and was hoping to avoid purchasing Pro.
