Project Pro can't connect to Project Server

I have Project Server 2003 installed on Windows 2003.

From an XP client I can't connect to the server using Project Pro 2003. I get the ' Project Server has returned an unexpected respose ' follwed by 'you are not authorised to view this page. Tou do not have permissions to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied because your Web browser is sending a header field that the Web Server is not configured to accept'

I've seen posts about this, but no answers. Hopefully, someone has an answer now! Thanks for any ideas of help!
