Greetings
I am using the mpjx api ( to generate an MPX file from a report and import it as am MPP file. The report has a number of columns that are not the default Project display columns. For example I have an Actual Amount that I am adding to the a task. After I generate the file and import it. I right click on the column headers and pick Insert Column… from the menu. I then pick Actual Cost for the field name and give it my title. However, when it appears in Project all the values are zero. I looked at the MPX file and it seems to have all the information needed.

Everything works OK for the columns that are in the default project file, like start and finish. It only happens to new columns/fields.

I have included the MPX file. You can see the header for the Actual Cost and the values as well ($127391.00,$149.00 … ). However they will appear.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Thank you in advance

Jeff Sulman

Actual Cost is a derived amount and is calculated based on several figures ((rate * actualwork) + (OTrate * OTactualwork) + FixedTaskCost + FixedResourceCost).

I *think* it is regenerated on the fly when actual work is entered.

If you want to have your own cost then then use something like Cost1.

PDQBach,
Thanks for the help that worked fine. The problem is that my knowledge if Project is limited.

Thanks alot!!!
