I am trying to utilize GoldMine's Opportunity/Project manager to track the progress of a sales process. When a product is sold there may be several steps that need to take place to complete the sale...

1. Instruction Letter Sent to Customer
2. Survey information returned from Customer.
3. Build product based on Survey.
4. Deliver and install product.

I can build a Project template and construct a timeline in the template indicating how many days each step should take. When I use the template to assign the project to an actual contact record the dates do not shift any to account for weekends.

For example... I have a template that indicates the first task takes 5 days (Monday-Friday). If I assign this template to a contact record and tell it the start date of the project is a Friday, it indicates the first task will still take 5 days (Friday-Tuesday).

Is there any work-around for this, or is there a better product for doing tracking of the sales fulfillment process that can tie into GoldMines contact records?

RS,

Sorry but no. The tasks do not take weekends into account.

What you could do is use the PriorAlert program ( under download utils) and use this with the lookup.ini to trigger a message to say 'please adjust the dates'.

Example for completing a sale:

[OnNewRun]
ContHist-S=x:\priorgm\prioralert "Please adjust the dates"
DisableFromAP=1

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Richard.
