Hi! This is yet another project leveling question, and coincidentally also my first post. Other leveling related topics didn't answer my specific question.

Here it goes:

I am using manual project leveling (standard ordering). Apparently there are many tasks in my project plan where I previously manually set the start date to a specific date, thereby inadvertendly creating "start-no-earlier-than" constraints. Now, even when I delete these constraints (by setting it to "as-soon-as-possible"), manual leveling does not want to change the start date of the affected tasks, but keeps them nailed to the date they were previously set to. How can I override this behavior and force MSP to adjust all dates according to their actual dependencies?

Thanks
-J

FYI: When I said "manual leveling" in my previous post, I really meant having MSP level the plan for me, but checking "manual" in the resource leveling dialog instead of "automatic", meaning that I have to click the "Level Now" button in order for leveling to occurr.

I'm not a big fan of using leveling but ... take a quick look to see if you have any actuals posted to the task that won't reschedule. Once you have posted actuals the task won't move forward or backward in dates.

Or you may have put a predecessor on one of the Summary tasks (tsk! tsk!) that this task is part of and that will prevent you from scheduling a task in the summary before the start of the summary task.

Or you may have used a resource calendar that prevents the resource from being assigned to any other timeframe.

Or you may have used a task calendar that prevents the task from being performed in any other timeframe.

Report back on your investigations/progress.
