Slit wrists or try and to figure out Project? Tough decision... I'm trying to do something simple and it doesn't work.

I have several projects within a top level project. I would like to simply set leveling priorities by project. I find that when I set the priorities as I wish nothing happens. I can set the task priorities within the projects which re-levels but I need it to do it on the project level.

Thanks!

Assuming that you are using P2000+ and not using Project Server.

The most common error is that people think Project will recognize "Bob Smith" in project1 as the same "Bob Smith" in project2.

You have to

1. Create a resource pool for all common resources.
2. Open a project, delete all common resources, open the resource pool and attach it, reassign the common resources, save the project.
3. Lather, rinse, repeat for all remaining projects.

4. Open a master project
5. Insert the subprojects

6. Tools | Level Resources ... | and set Levelling Order to Standard (or Priority, Standard).

Remember: Recurring tasks will get a priority of 1000 and are not levelled.
