Project Error

Hi there I have created a asp.net project and it all works find however when I leave the project on the internet say http:\\myproject\search.aspx for around 20 minutes then use it again I have the error.

Server Error in '/' Application.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred

Is there anyway to stop this - is this to do with the garbage collector?

Most likely the session has expired.

It has something to do with some key generated to encrypt/decrypt the ViewState. If you wait too long, the app will regenerate a key and validation will fail.

You can change the behavior by not autogenerating the machine key:
