Hi. Please can someone help. VB.net 2008
I have long queries running on an app and while the query is running I'm looking for a progress bar to tick away (on timer event) to let the user know something is happening.
Each time the query is run the system processes are blocked and the progress bar does not increment. Once the query is finished away it goes.
That's not the idea. Can anyone help me get the progress bar running as the query starts. It takes 5-10sec for returning the data. This is running remotely from SQL Server so no fine tuning will speed the query!
Thanks in advance
Scott

Look into using a BackgroundWorker to do your query. You need to have your UI run on one thread while the work happens on another.
