Progress front end alternatives & questions

Hi all, I will like some feedback with progress, seems to be a easy rdbms to manage but its front end and 4gl seems far different from what other products in the market,
what has been your approach in trying other frontends and odbc with progress.
What is recommended?,
what modeling case tool can be used?
By the way what tool can be uses to generate better reports than the output txt files ?

Is any way possible to work with odbc via another app (vfp?) and generate reports and read binary data types (images) from progress?

Well I develope using a little 4GL and some ODBC with VB and ASP. What version of progress are you using? I can't say I would recommend using an ODBC driver before the SQL92 3.6 that shipped with Progress 9.1. I used it, but not by choice. I use 4GL for any heavy applications, but will use ODBC with Crystal Reports and Access Databases simply for ease.

Progress 4GL isn't much different than other databases 4GL and it's really a unix database ported to windows so it's not like SQL server, but if you have Provision they have some decent development tools.
