Has anybody had experience seeing database views created using Progress SQL 92 in Impromptu? I can not see the columns the view generated. I am using Impromptu v. 7.0 MR1.

Thanks

Views on any database will not automatically appear in Impromptu. Go to Tools | Options | General and turn off the checkbox for "Retrieve database tables when editing catalog tables". This will cause a new button to appear when in the Catalog | Tables screen that will say "Retrieve Tables". Pressing that button will produce another screen with checkboxes for the types of database objects to retrieve. Make sure that the view checkbox is selected. Your view should then be visible.

Hope this helps,

Dave Griffin

Thanks Dave -

I tried this - but it still didn't work. To clarify - I can see the view, but I can not see the columns in the view. I can not do any joins with the view.

Could it be due to your DB connection & its functionality against SQL92? I'm having problems with Progress DB drivers at present and the provider not only distinguishes between builds of Progress, but also between SQL89 & SQL92 for their drivers. On upgrading, I can see only one of our two DBs for the purposes of adding tables/joins (yet can run existing reports against both) and columns with '@' in the field name are not shown.

I had a problem like this on Oracle a while back. The view appeared, but I couldn't see the columns within. I'm searching my recollection of how I fixed it. I think I had failed to commit the view. When I did commit it, I could delete and re-add the view and it appeared properly. This is all a little hazy now, so if I remember more I'll post it then. Let me know if this works for you though.
