I want to create a progress bar for displaying task progress - a large file copy, with a runtime.exec program.
I've read about progress bars on Sun site - but I think the given examples are only stand alone applications.
Can I get an example of a progress bar interacting with that particular task ?
Thanks in advance.

I don't think you can.

A progress bar is updated by setting different points at the code that shows the progress.

If you're running an external command, you cannot update your progress bar from there. You'd need to simulate it with some king of tickler feature.

Cheers,

Dian

Can you be a little more explicit - or, even better, give a code example ?

Would be nice if you were as fast and explicit answering as you are asking ...

By tickler feature I mean some kind of update thread with a Timer that updates de progress bar from time to time. You'd need to estimate how much time the external process will take or poll it until its end.

Cheers,

Dian
