Programs Association Help Needed

I have two physical hard drives, one c: the other d:.
I just reformatted the C: drive and reinstalled Windows 2000 OS. How can I tell the newly formatted C: drive to recognize all the programs on the d: drive? I would like to see the d: programs in my start up menu.

Is this now possible?

Hi, Jim,

I suspect you will have to re-install the applications on your D; drive - if you have re-formatted C: and re-installed windows, all the registry details will be absent.

You can try making a short cut to D:\appfolder\runme.exe but you'll find all sorts of error messages appearing.

I backed up all my files from the old c: drive prior to reformatting. Is there anything I can copy back from the old c: to the new c: to recognize the d: drive programs?

I doubt it - you'll need to fully register the aplications - but I defer to anyone who knows better. The registry entries are pretty complex for some applications (e.g MSOffice) and need to be very accurate.

You may have some present surprises if you re-install your applications - for exapmle, you'll get another free year of updates for Nortn Antivirus.
