The PC is a Dell Dimension 8250 desktop running Windows XP Pro SP2. My customer said for a couple months now the majority of his programs are missing from, when you click Start then All Programs it only shows ten of them. He can go to My Computer -> C: -> Program Files -> the program folder, then find the program(s) there. What caused them to go away from the Start menu and how can we get all his programs back under the start menu of All Programs? Thanks!

No. He doesn't mess with any of the interfaces, menu's and/or settings.

I would check each user profile, and see if the missing shortcuts show up anywhere... If they DO, they can just be copied in.

C:\Documents and Settings\username1\StartMenu\Programs
C:\Documents and Settings\username2\StartMenu\Programs
etc.

Did he inadvertently switch from Classic Start Menu to XP Start menu. I have a customer who changed her settings to show only the Start Programs she normally uses but there's the double arrow @ the bottom of the menu to display all Start Up programs.

Have a look at the Permissions of this users StartMenu/ Programs folder and make sure the Permissions are correct and the folder populated. The programs he sees listed may reside in the All Users/ StartMenu/ Programs folder.

C:\Documents and Settings\usernamexxxx\StartMenu\Programs
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\StartMenu\Programs
