Hi All,

I thought it would be useful to start a list of useful projects which everyone can use as practice to:

1. improve their programming,
2. add to their "portfolio",
3. put on their website,
4. present to future employers

etc.

I have some ideas and suggestions but I though I would see what everyone thought first..

Not really related to Microsoft Certification, is it?

Anything that helps yourprogramming is beneficial to helping you pass your certification.

To pass your certification you should:

1. Learned the subject.
2. Write programs to reinforce your knowledge.

Whatever IT subject you learn you should do practicals rather than just rely on reading.

although programming is vastly different to networking you still need to gain practical experience. I note that you have your MCSE-did you gain the certs purely by reading the Microsoft Press books?

No. In fact I didn't even start my certification exams until I had over 10 years of experience in the industry.

so when someone is learning a subject area for the first time and taking exams then practical experience is important.

However we both seem to have gained experience first before going for certification....

Here are some ideas to get you thinking..

1. Games (e.g. Chess / Noughts and crosses/ 3-dimensional noughts and crosses :))
2. Cricket scorecard
3. Football tables/fixture lists/result predictor
