I'm new to phone programming and using a Legend 6.2 system. I'm trying to figure out how to program Park "Zones" on a particular phone. I.e. I'd like to park an incoming call on a certain extension (like 301 or 302). I only see the Park feature (just Park, no zones) on the phone and through Central Programming.

I'd also like to figure out how to program a phone to monitor my 801/2 lines. I see from inspection that the command is "Line 801 -I", but can't seem to find that as an option either (without using Pickup or Coverage).

Any help would be great! Thanks.

Park zones can only be used on a operator. A user can only park 1 call at a time by using a park key. How do you want to monitor lines? And what are you monitoring for?

On the park issue -

I have two other users who have "Park Zone 301" buttons or similar 300 on their phones, enabling them to park on a different extension if the first is busy. Is this because those two users are being classified differently - does the system think that they're operators? I'd like to add this feature to another user's phone, but can't seem to.

On the line issue -

Those same two users also have "Line 801 -I" buttons on their phones, letting them see our main lines when an incoming call is ringing. Again, I can't seem to find the option to program this. Is this the operator issue again?

Thanks!

You can add lines to phones by going to ext.'s and lines and trunks. enter the ext., entry mode, then the line #

As far as the park zones, if you want to put the singal park button on, you can do that through centralized programming.

I tried the line addition and, even though I specified 801 or 802, the new phone button reads "70 Pool -I". So it's covering all of the lines, but you can't tell which one is actually ringing. At least it's a step in the right direction!

Park is still an issue. Remember, I'm trying to add multiple park buttons to park calls on particular extensions (like "Park Zone 301" and "Park Zone 302" - two different lines). I noticed that this person is not considered an Operator of the system, whereas the other people are. Could this be why I'm having so much trouble?

The extension that you are putting the "park zones" on needs to be an operator position. That is, designated an "operator" in software and be on the 1st or 5th position of a 408 card. Any extension can park one call, only "operators" can have park zones. Does this help at all?

Correct! If you're doing park zones, they can only be on operator positions, which have to be an MLX 20 in the 1st or 5th port of the station cards. You can put a solo park button on other ext.'s, and this parks the call on the ext.

You're getting a pool button because the line is in a pool. Again, only an operator can have the lines on the phone seperately. When it's not an operator, once you assign one of the lines of a pool, they all go there as a pool key.

I think you need another operator position?

You guys kick some serious tail! I know that I have a couple of jacks that worked before, so I'll simply swap the necessary lines into the correct ports tomorrow and let you know how things go. Finally, I'm wrapping my head around this problem. [peace]
