A Norstar MICS with 7.0 software trying to program manual night service to have lines 1-3 ring EXT 249(ATA connected to Answering Machine) Line 4 ring on all phones at Night. Lines 1-3 assigned to Ring group 001 and EXT 249 is assigned. Line 4 assigned to Ring group 002 and all extensions assigned except 249. No answer DN's assigned to 249. When I place system in Night Mode (Feature 871) all extensions ring including 249. The answering machine will answer on two rings but all the other phones should not ring. Line 4 rings all phones except 249 as it should. I felt confident this is programmed correctly but I have run out of options . Any help is greatly appreciated. Also rebooted the system. Thanks.

Are the lines set to appear and ring normally? Night service won't stop that.

Yes, the lines appear & ring on several phones and those are the phones ringing in addition to EXT 249. Why would night service not stop this. Why is it any different than having the voice mail extension programmed to answer in night mode. Phones programmed to ring do not ring in this instance. Thanks for your help.

Night service will not override the Appear and Ring of lines that were programmed.

I would make the lines Appear Only, then create another service mode Lunch for daytime use and add the phones you want to ring in daytime as members?.

Thanks for your help. I set this up and renamed one of the modes day and it works. The only problem now is that Caller ID will not appear until you answer the call because the lines are no longer set to appear & ring, but the customer is happy and they can always dial feature 811 before picking up the call.
