We have a Merlin Magix 3.0 syatem. When I try to assign the line button positions on the phones I have a hard time getting them on the correct button. Is there an easy way to do this. Is there a template for the phones that show how the butons are numbered. I am using SPM to program.

There is no "easy" way to deal with line button assignments in Legend or Magix. Lines will assign to the next available button on the phone, overwriting whatever is currently on that button. The only buttons that it won't overwrite are other lines and SA buttons.

In the Feature Reference, you will find the numbering of the buttons, which varies with the phone type. Then, decide where you want your lines to appear, assign "placeholder" lines to every button with a lower number than the button where you want to assign the line (remembering where you already have lines and SAs assigned), assign the line, then remove the "placeholders", then reprogram the buttons that you overwrote.

Quick example: I want the phone to appear like this:

Button 5 - Line 1
Button 4 - Line 2
Button 3 - SA-Out
Button 2 - SA-Voice
Button 1 - SA-Ring

The phone currently has NO lines assigned, but it does have the 3 SA buttons. Assign Line 64 to fill button 4, then assign Line 1 which will go on button 5, then remove Line 53 which will clear button 4, then assign Line 2 which will go on button 3.

Thanks that is what I needed the numbering plan shows how the page 2 buttons line up.

Also, if you don't want to assign "dummy lines" as placeholders, you can assign SA (System Access) buttons as placeholders too. Sometimes this can be easier in Centralized Programming than having to jump back and forth between CP and Lines/Trunks, etc. when you have lots of changes.

Hope this helps!
