Incoming calls ring Fax machine fine.
Outgoing calls go nowhere. I'm starting to think the ATA is faulty.
Am I missing something in programming?
I have tried everything and never heard dial tone, not that I expect it on a pri. I do have 2nd dial tone programmed on digit 9 , I also could not call internal intercom , no DT
What are the correct settings for getting an outside line preferably without the alarm unit and fax having to dial a 9 first?
I don't remember this being that difficult , but there are a few tricks.

Thanks
Richard

I don't think devices connected to an ATA get the second dial tone at all. That leaves you with 2 options:
[ul]
[li]Programming a Hotline to automatically dial 9 using the Routing Table. You won't get any dial tone, but you won't have to dial 9.[/li]
[li]Forgetting about the Hotline and setting the Prime Line to Intercom. You will get the system dial tone, but you will have to dial 9.[/li]
[/ul]

The first option will work only if your alarm unit and your fax machine can be configured to ignore dial tone before making a call.

If your alarm unit and your fax machine absolutely require a dial tone before making a call, you will have to go with the second option. Most devices can be configured to dial a prefix before making a call, so you should be able to have them dial the 9 automatically for you.

I have the same issue recently with several alarm systems at a school and their dial tone detection was causing a problem so I had the alarm technician come out and had a 9 to be dialing string. Sometimes you may need to have them add a pause which is usually 9, and then the telephone number. I've never understood why Adat azA do not provide a second dial tone
